My family was going to Cebu to attend a wedding and wanted to stay at a great but affordable place. I asked my cousins there to look me up an affordable accommodation but with great service. They gave me three hotel names and looked it up in the internet but I wasn’t that satisfied with any of the three so I kept looking but didn’t find any that will somehow meet my qualifications, as if I had that much money to spend when I was on a budget. Then I came across a newspaper advertisement of a new hotel in Cebu that is affordable but with great service. So what better way to find out if it’s true but to look it up myself in the worldwide web.
Cebu R Hotel is a new hotel in the city. It’s located at Don Mariano Cui St. near the NBI. I wanted to stay in this hotel since it’s a new hotel and the accommodations are affordable and breakfast is already included. There were great amenities also like Wifi in all rooms, cable TV, mini refs starting from deluxe rooms. I was looking for a review of the hotel in the internet but I couldn’t find one. So I was having second thoughts if I should stay here when I go to Cebu and my cousins weren’t familiar with the hotel.
But I have to take the risk, thinking that since this is a new hotel, the building is new and everything is still new. The hotel was also near the wedding reception so I reserve for a deluxe room for me, my husband and son through email. When they replied I was having second thoughts again because they got all my information incorrectly in their form; they reserve a standard room for one night only and a date far off the dates I will be in Cebu, so I have to email them twice to correct all the information given up to my mobile number. I also asked my cousins in Cebu to confirm my reservation so as to make sure. They told me the reservation was already confirmed and that the hotel was ok and it’s usually fully booked.
We stayed in the hotel for two nights (Jan 30 - Feb 1, 2010) and I could say that it was a pleasant stay. The room was clean and big, towels were provided, television and aircon were in good condition, electric kettle was provided for your convenience in drinking hot drinks anytime you want, mirror outside and inside the comfort room, the beds were comfortable to sleep in. What I really loved about the room was the comfort room, it was big and the tiles in the CR were non slip, the shower area was nice with hot and cold water, even the sink had hot & cold water.
The breakfast was ok, considering the room price I could say it was appropriate. Wifi in the room was a bit slow but was fast in the café area. One thing I also noticed was the food in the café was affordable. Not your usual hotel price that competes with airport prices. We tried their cheese stuffed squid and I love it. I love the taste of that dish and would recommend to anyone wanting to try different dishes. Going to places and tourist spots within the city was not difficult since the hotel was near a major road in Cebu, Osmeña Boulevard, you can find lots of jeepneys a walking distance away from the hotel. Since the hotel was located on a street with several inns, pensions, hotels, taxis are also easy to get.
If you want to buy Cebu’s otap, a shop is located just on the other side of the block where the hotel is located. You can walk going there and back.
So next time you want to visit Cebu try out this new hotel, affordable but with great service.
